ABOUT US

SAV 3D is owned by James (Jim) Beals (aka Ameyatma das) and operated by he and his family, including wife Rukmini Beals, and 3 children, Kalindi-Yamuna Beals, Lal Krsna-Gopal Beals and Radhika-Chandra Beals

Jim Beals has been involved in 3D photography and graphics as well as many other related fields for over 30 years.

From his high school years in the 1960's Mr Beals was on a spiritual quest in his life. He was a seeker of the truth. He did his research in the libraries, from the public libraries in San Gabriel Valley (Southern Calif) where he grew up, to the research library at UCLA. Born a Christian, he naturally studied Jesus, his teachings and his life. But, his search did not end there. He had to know who The Father really was. What He looked like, what the Kingdom of God was really like. He made a very intense prayer to God one day, and within the a few days later he found the book that would change his course in life. He became a disciple and student of the spiritual master of the Hare Krishna movement, Swami A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad. He joined his ashram, his school and monestary in 1973.

His spiritual teacher gave him a new religious name, Ameyatma das, which means the servant of God, the one whose soul cannot be measured.

In 1974 the religious mission that he joined had started to work on an art museum using sculptures in diorama settings to depict their teachings. He first joined the project as an artist, since art was one of his hobbies.

After a few months Jim Beals (now known as Ameyatma das) suggested that rather then having just static figures they should had computerized theatrical lighting with sound tracks and movies and slide presentations. The idea was accepted and he was put in charge of producing the multimedia aspects of the museums. Including photography and producing multi-slide projector shows.

In 1975 he found an ad in the newspaper for a 3D stereo camera made in the 1950's called a Realist. This piqued his interest and he bought it. Thus, began his involvment in the world of 3D photogaphy.

In the early 1980's he got involved with computers. In 1985 he was elected to head up Audio Visual production for the entire world wide mission of the Hare Krishna movment. And in 1986 he purchased a full 3D computer graphics workstation with both film and professional video output and begain producing 3D comptuer graphics art, both for commerical TV broadcaste use as well as pure art.

In the mid 1990's he produced his first 3D lenticular poster sized prints. But, the process at the time was done photographically in labs (as opposed to today where all the work is done digitally on the computer). Although he made some sales and attracted some interest in such work and asked to produce commercially, he was not happy with the quality of the photographic method available to him at the time and shelved his ideas for a later time.

Nearly 15 years went by and he finally decided it was time to take his ideas off the shelf and dust them off and start producing the 3D posters he had wanted and started to do 15 years earlier. Except that now he could acheive the quality that he originally wanted.

Although SAV-3D may be a new company for him, Mr Beals is not at all new to the art. He is bringing with him his years of experience in 3D photography, as well as years of work as a 3D computer animation artist, as well as his knowledge of computers and computer software programing, as well as his years as a multi-media producer, photographer, videographer and last mentioned, but not at all least, his experience as an artist as well.

He has also been encouraging and training his children, and thus today he engages his whole family in the art and business.
